"Let's Stop Cancer Together"

  • The examinations will be conducted for free for women who have not been able to access their mammograms, from seven communes in the Metropolitan Region: Colina, Puente Alto, Maipú, Melipilla, La Cisterna, San Bernardo, and Lo Espejo.

In a joint initiative with the Arturo López Pérez Foundation (FALP), Alto Las Condes, Costanera Center, and Mall Portal aim to raise public awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. The screening exams will be performed free of charge for women from seven communes in the Metropolitan Region: Colina, Puente Alto, Maipú, Melipilla, La Cisterna, San Bernardo, and Lo Espejo, who have not had the opportunity to have a mammogram.

Breast cancer is a disease that affects one in eight women at some point in their lives, but early detection can result in a 90% survival rate. To highlight this reality and the vital impact of early screening exams, the Arturo López Pérez Foundation, Alto Las Condes, Costanera Center, and Mall Portal have joined forces in this campaign.

In its seventh edition this year, the "Let's Unite to Halt Cancer Together" campaign has been expanded to include Mall Costanera Center and Mall Portal. The aim is to support the social programs of the Foundation and its work in educating the community about breast cancer, the leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide.

In a symbolic gesture of solidarity and awareness, the dome of the Costanera Tower will be illuminated from the 11th to the 19th of this month, highlighting the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

Alto Las Condes has pledged to donate 500 mammograms to women who cannot access this vital screening exam.

“The risk of suffering from cancer increases with age, since more than five thousand cases are detected every year in Chile alone, which is why this campaign is of greater relevance in our country. For this reason, at Cencosud Shopping, we want to reach more and more women to provide the tools that help generate a more frequent dialogue about the issue and create spaces to learn about this type of cancer and the ways that exist to detect it in time, since arriving on time means a 95% chance of recovery," says Macarena Bassaletti, Deputy Manager of Marketing, Sustainability and Customers at Cencosud Shopping.

The exams will be carried out in the Mobile Clinics of the Arturo López Pérez Foundation, located in seven communes of the Metropolitan Region, where they will be available for two days in each commune: Colina, Puente Alto, Maipú, Melipilla, La Cisterna, San Bernardo, and Lo Espejo. These mobile clinics are specially designed to attend to women who have not had the opportunity to undergo their screening exam.

“This significant contribution, which consists of performing 500 mammograms in our mobile clinics, will allow us to bring the premier exam for early detection of breast cancer closer to women in more remote areas and in socially vulnerable situations. Especially in such complex times as we live in, which due to the pandemic, have seen this type of preventive exams postponed," says Soledad Neumann, Manager of Donations and Charity at FALP.
