Paris launches project against breast cancer: "United for You"
Santiago, September 2013.- October is the global month for cancer awareness, and October 19th marks International Breast Cancer Day. In Chile, three women die from this disease every day. In this context, with the aim of raising social awareness about the importance of early diagnosis in detecting this disease, the Yo Mujer Corporation and Paris have joined forces to launch the "United for You" project, an initiative that is being carried out for the third year in a row.
The objective of this campaign is to spread the message about the importance of educating women on the early detection of breast cancer through an annual mammogram after the age of 40 (or 35 years for those with a family history).
According to health specialists, mammography is the only effective tool for early detection of breast cancer, which has become the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in our country. Early detection of this disease increases the chances of survival by 98% and reduces the mortality rate by 30%.
Throughout the month of October, in all 40 Paris stores across Chile, workshops on early diagnosis will be conducted by professional nurses from the Yo Mujer Corporation. Each store will offer 1, 2, or 3 free courses, with a capacity for approximately 30 attendees. It is estimated that the campaign will directly impact over 2,900 Chilean women.
Additionally, a limited collection of t-shirts with exclusive designs by Monjitas Alamoda for the campaign will be available in Paris stores, and the proceeds will go towards benefiting the Yo Mujer Corporation.
In parallel, the "Run for Life" event will take place on Sunday, October 6th, with the expectation of gathering over 3,000 participants. Notable figures will take part in this charity run.
For Paris, these types of initiatives are of great importance and align with their commitment to women, as stated by Fernanda Kluever, Responsible Marketing Deputy Manager at Paris:
"70% of our employees are women, and 65% of our customers are women."
Since the beginning of this year, the company has provided free digital mammograms to its employees to promote self-care in dealing with this disease.
