Jumbo features the participation of Cirque Du Soleil

Santiago, October 18, 2013.- On site, the Secretary of State, Roberto Ampuero, was able to appreciate the various innovations and staging that this year features the participation of a Canadian creative team with extensive experience in international productions, such as Cirque du Soleil and the Michael Jackson musical, ONE. The show also includes an international cast with experience in different countries. The circus, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, will tour the main cities of Chile, from Iquique to Puerto Montt. Over 50 performances will be held, and it is estimated that over half a million people will attend this spectacle.

"Initiatives like these are fundamental when it comes to bringing culture closer to Chileans, and they are even more relevant when they correspond to quality shows. Additionally, it helps promote a discipline that has a long and great tradition in our country, as demonstrated by the presence of Chilean circus artists in the world's best casts."

Minister of Culture, Roberto Ampuero.

On the other hand, the Corporate Affairs Manager of Cencosud, Renato Fernández, explained that this new version of the Jumbo circus aims to deliver an internationally acclaimed show to the audience, distinguished by the quality of each of its performances.

One of the novelties of this version is the participation of the Canadian creative team, composed of Jeff Hall as Creative Director, Joel Berguenson as Technical Producer, and Patricia Ruel as Set Designer. Additionally, for the first time, the show will focus on a concept, so that each performance is part of a story: "The Journey of Jumbito." To achieve this, the event will feature nine different shows, involving more than 60 artists from China, South Africa, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Ghana, the Republic of Congo, and Chile.

One of the main acts will be performed by six Chinese artists, who will present one of the most prestigious diabolo shows in the world, a spectacle that has also been part of Cirque du Soleil. On the other hand, from Mongolia, the Water Meteors stand out, a group composed of four acrobats who will surprise with a novel act combining dexterity, acrobatics, and juggling.

In addition, Africans Queens, a team of six Ethiopian contortionists, will perform an incredible show of movements that is expected to have an impact on all spectators in the country, as it has already done on its tours of Europe. Likewise, the Troupe Hackuna Matata will present two pyramid and pool acts, transporting the audience into the incredible world of the jungle.

Equally astonishing will be the performances of the Chinese artists with a spectacular trampoline show and the German Wheel group. The humorous acts will be led by the grandson of the legendary Tony Caluga. The music will be provided by the band Mother Africa, composed of eight musicians from Tanzania and two singers from South Africa, who have participated in Cirk Afrika in Paris.

The Jumbo Circus will begin its tour of Chile on October 23 in the city of Iquique. It will then visit Antofagasta, Calama, Copiapó, La Serena, Quinta Vergara in Viña del Mar, Rancagua, Curicó, Talca, Concepción, Chillán, Los Ángeles, Temuco, Osorno, Puerto Montt. It will conclude in Santiago, with eight performances at the Movistar Arena on November 22, 23, and 24.

Tickets will not be sold; instead, for every 15,000 pesos spent on products participating in the promotion at any Jumbo store, customers will receive their admission.
