Through this letter, and in accordance with the provisions of Article 9 and the second paragraph of Article 10, both of Law 18.045, and Section 11, numeral 2.2 of the General Norm No. 30 of the Superintendency of Securities and Insurance (today Financial Market Commission), I hereby inform you, as an Essential Fact, the following:

Mr. Matías Videla Solá, current CEO of Cencosud S.A., has tendered his resignation to the Company effective as of today.

In an extraordinary session, the Board of Directors unanimously accepted his resignation and expressed gratitude for Mr. Videla's contributions to the Company over the last 26 years.

On an interim basis, his duties will be assumed by the Chairwoman of the Board, Ms. Heike Paulmann Koepfer.
