Cencosud finalizes the sale of pharmacies in Colombia to Cruz Verde
Santiago, November 4, 2015.- Cencosud announced today the sale of the 39 pharmacies operated by the group within Jumbo and Metro supermarkets in Colombia to the chain Cruz Verde.
Cruz Verde, part of the Socofar group, has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector in Latin America. In 2012, it entered the Colombian market through the acquisition of Farmasanitas, aiming to become the most recognized chain of pharmacies, pharmaceutical distribution, and intrahospital pharmacies in the country. Cruz Verde has over 140 points of service in 40 cities across the country.
Cencosud entered Colombia in 2008 to develop the Home Improvement & Construction format through its brand Easy, operating 10 stores in the country. In 2012, it further expanded its presence by acquiring the Carrefour supermarket chain, which is now operated under the Jumbo brand with 36 locations, Metro with 44 locations, and Metro Express with 20 stores.
